What do your local running track, the floors of Nike's offices, the soles of your sneaks and the zipper on your hoodie have in common? They're all products that can be created using Nike Grind, a raw material made from recycled athletic shoes collected through the Reuse-A-Shoe program, as well as manufacturing scrap and shoes with manufacturing flaws.
During the recycling process, your worn-out shoes are divided into three materials: Nike Grind Rubber, Nike Grind Foam and Nike Grind Upper. Nike then partners with industry-leading sports surfacing companies to incorporate this material into their products, as well using it in our own product manufacturing:
- Sports Surfaces – See how our surfacing partners use Nike Grind in courts, tracks, synthetic turf and playground surfaces.
- Consumer Products – Shoes, accessories and athletic mats are just a few of the places you'll find Nike Grind.
It's all part of Nike's Considered design philosophy – a commitment to innovation and sustainability in our business. Learn more about the Considered philosophy.
